Gwendolyn and Fraser’s wedding at Woodland Gardens on Washington’s Vashon Island was a pretty perfect reflection of the two of them: full of great people, a little unconventional, and a whole lot of fun.
These two have an amazing gift for making and keeping lifelong friends. They each had 10 people in their bridal party, with many of those friendships going all the way back to birth. The bridal party also organized the entire wedding, and Gwen made all of the flower crowns for herself and her bridesmaids.
And because apparently 20 people in a bridal party isn’t enough coordination, the best man and maid of honor had walkie talkies. They made for some pretty funny photos early in the day.
A Woodland Gardens Wedding
Woodland Gardens felt incredibly remote and almost fairytale-like, tucked away among the trees on Vashon Island. It was a beautiful setting for a day that was so focused on the people they love.
Dinner was tamales from [CATERING COMPANY], followed by something that felt very on-brand for Gwen and Fraser: skipping most of the traditional wedding activities and getting straight to the fun.
No cake cutting. No first dances. No bouquet toss. Just a packed grass dance floor and a whole lot of dancing with their favorite people.
The dance floor stayed full until the very end of the night, with guests dancing, laughing, and singing along to the music.

One of my favorite moments came at the very end of the night. Instead of everyone heading home while the couple and vendors handled cleanup, Gwen and Fraser’s guests all pitched in to help.
I even caught a photo of a few guests singing along to the music while they packed everything up. It was such a perfect little snapshot of the entire day: everyone together, having fun, and helping make the celebration happen.
Gwen and Fraser’s wedding was a great reminder that you really don’t need to follow every wedding tradition to have an incredible wedding day. Sometimes you just need your favorite people, a beautiful place, good food, and a love story that everyone is excited to celebrate.
