Lauren and Eli’s wedding at Woodland Meadows in Snohomish, Washington was one of those weddings that had a little bit of everything. It was emotional without feeling overly serious, full of personality, and the kind of celebration where people genuinely seemed to be having the best time as the DJ packed the dance floor. As their Woodland Meadows wedding photographer, I had the privilege of documenting the entire day, from the quiet moments while they got ready all the way through their bubble send-off under the night sky.

A Full Wedding Day From Beginning to End

Lauren and Eli chose one of my full wedding day photography packages, which meant I was there to document everything from getting ready through their bubble send-off. I always love full-day coverage because the little moments often become just as meaningful as the big ones.

Getting ready, the bride and groom both enjoyed the company of their wedding party members, but they approached things differently.

For Eli, the guys gathered together, played bottle cap, shared plenty of laughs, and enjoyed some soju before it was finally time to get dressed. It felt relaxed, fun, and exactly how a wedding morning should.

Lauren’s morning had a few more intentional moments mixed in.

After spending some time creating getting ready photos with her bridesmaids, everyone stepped aside so she could share a few quiet moments alone with her mom. Watching her mother place her grandmother’s wedding pearls around Lauren’s neck was incredibly special. She carefully zipped up her dress before gently placing her shoes onto her feet with Cinderella-like delicacy. It was one of those moments that felt incredibly personal, carrying a piece of family history into a brand new chapter.

A Sweet Surprise Before the First Look

As Lauren made her way to see Eli for their first look, I had one more surprise waiting.

Before she ever reached her groom, I quietly positioned her dad for an unexpected first look with his daughter.

His reaction was priceless.

He smiled, got emotional, and simply took a moment to admire his daughter before she walked away to see the love of her life. Those few minutes ended up being one of the sweetest parts of the entire morning, and it’s exactly why I love looking for opportunities like this throughout a wedding day.

Portraits Around Woodland Meadows

One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer at Woodland Meadows is how much variety the property offers within a minute’s walk.

Lauren and Eli shared their first look beneath one of the venue’s beautiful trees, where a large swing hangs from the branches. It couldn’t have suited them better. They spent the first few moments laughing together before we naturally flowed into portraits around the tree, including some of my favorite images of the day on the swing.

They were such a joy to photograph because they naturally blended romantic moments with goofy ones. They’d be wrapped up in a quiet embrace one second, then immediately burst into laughter the next. Nothing ever felt forced. They simply enjoyed being together, and that always translates into photographs that feel genuine.

Later that afternoon, while everyone was enjoying cocktail hour, I noticed the sunlight hitting one of the small ponds tucked back into the trees. The light highlighted the color of the water perfectly, bringing out these incredible rich colors that I hadn’t quite been able to photograph earlier in the day.

I quickly borrowed Lauren and Eli for just a couple of minutes.

Sometimes the best portraits happen because you’re paying attention to the little changes happening throughout the day, and this was one of those moments. We were only there briefly before sending them right back to their guests, but those portraits ended up becoming some of my personal favorites.

A Ceremony Filled With Emotion… and Laughter

Their ceremony was one of those perfect balances between deeply emotional and genuinely funny.

Their vows had guests wiping away tears, but Lauren started speaking into Eli’s lapel microphone, which made for some of the best goofy photos of the day. Those little unexpected memories are often the ones couples laugh about for years afterward.

After their first kiss and joyous walk back up the aisle, the couple rang a ceremonial bell on the property to celebrate their marriage. Of course, I had to document that along with their potsticker snack immediately following the ceremony.

Heartfelt Toasts and an Incredible Reception

The reception continued the same joyful energy. From the couple’s beautiful first dance to a surprise dance for Lauren’s parents to their own wedding song, everything felt so special and intentional.

Another special moment was Lauren’s dance with her dad. After energetically bouncing all over the dance floor to music from The Parent Trap, they shared the “secret handshake” that Lindsay Lohan shares with her butler in the movie. Absolutely priceless!

Parents, family members, and close friends shared stories about Lauren and Eli, but one of my favorite surprises was seeing the flower girl and ring bearer step up to give toasts too. It was incredibly sweet and made everyone in the room smile.

The reception itself had something for everyone. The photo booth stayed busy throughout the evening, giving guests another excuse to be silly together. A cozy fire pit gave people a place to relax if dancing wasn’t really their thing, while the dance floor stayed absolutely packed all night long.

Then there were the bubble queens.

One of them showed up wearing a hilarious oversized penguin coat that somehow became one of the unexpected highlights of the reception. It quickly made its way onto the dance floor, and everyone absolutely loved it.

The energy never dipped.

Everywhere I looked, people were dancing, laughing, and celebrating together. It was one of those receptions where nobody seemed ready for the night to end.

A Bubble Send-Off to Finish the Night

As the evening wrapped up, guests gathered outside with bubbles waiting for Lauren and Eli to make their grand exit.

Watching hundreds of bubbles float through the dark while everyone cheered them on was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. It felt joyful, celebratory, and like such a fitting way to close out a wedding that had been overflowing with love from beginning to end.
