Wedding Photography at Sea Cliffs B&B | Laila & Daniel’s Intimate Port Angeles Wedding

How can we top an intimate wedding overlooking the ocean? Between the incredible sea cliff views, the happy tears from their parents, and one very curious little fawn watching the day unfold from the trees, Daniel and Laila’s wedding weekend was one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

Their Sea Cliffs B&B wedding was everything they had hoped for—a relaxed weekend spent with family, incredible views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and countless little moments that reminded everyone what the day was really about.

They traveled all the way across the country to tie the knot in Port Angeles, Washington, choosing Sea Cliffs B&B so they could spend the entire weekend surrounded by the people they love most. One of the biggest reasons they chose to have an Olympic Peninsula wedding was to be closer to Daniel’s grandparents, who live nearby and played such a meaningful role throughout the day. Watching generations of family come together in one place is always special, and it made every moment feel that much more intentional.

As their wedding photographer at Sea Cliffs B&B, it was one of those weekends where it was easy to slow down and notice all of the little moments happening in between the big ones.

Why I Love Wedding Photography at Sea Cliffs B&B

Tucked away just outside of Port Angeles, Sea Cliffs B&B is one of those venues that feels like you’ve stumbled across a secret. Rather than feeling like a traditional wedding venue, it feels like a home where your favorite people can gather for an entire weekend.

One of my favorite things about the property is that you can rent the entire B&B for weddings and family events. Everyone gets to stay together, relax, and actually enjoy time with one another instead of rushing from hotel to venue and back again. It creates such a different atmosphere than a typical one-day wedding.

The property itself is incredibly peaceful, too. While everyone was getting ready that morning, an adorable little fawn was tucked safely into the trees near the front of the property. Mamma deer was much more secretive, but never too far away. It was one of those reminders of how private the property feels and how well the surrounding nature has been preserved. Wildlife seems completely at home there, and honestly, it just added another layer of magic to the weekend.

A Morning Full of Happy Tears

Laila spent the morning getting ready with her mom, who cried happy tears helping her daughter prepare for the ceremony.

Those moments are always some of my favorites to photograph because they’re completely genuine. Nobody is thinking about the camera—they’re just soaking in the fact that this day they’ve dreamed about for years is finally here.

Just as everyone settled into the morning, the bouquets arrived from [Florist Name], filling the room with even more color and giving everyone one more reason to stop and admire the day that was finally here.

Private Vows Before the Ceremony

Instead of seeing each other before the ceremony, Laila and Daniel chose to share a first touch on the front steps of Sea Cliffs B&B.

Standing on opposite sides without seeing one another, they exchanged private vows before the day officially began. It gave them a chance to slow down, breathe together, and have a quiet moment before family and friends joined them for the ceremony.

It was simple, emotional, and one of my favorite parts of the day.

I also loved seeing all their family, who had been lovingly banished to the back porch to give the couple some privacy, peeking through the house to catch a glimpse of them during their vows.

Two More First Looks That Had Everyone Crying

The emotional moments definitely didn’t stop there.

Laila shared a first look with her dad that was incredibly sweet, while Daniel’s first look with his mom was even more sentimental. Completely coincidentally, there was a rocking horse on the porch behind Daniel’s mom during their first look, and it felt like a symbol of his childhood winking at us in the background.

Seeing parents experience those moments with their kids never gets old. Every family reacts differently, but you can always feel just how much love is packed into those few minutes. Some couples choose to skip these moments, but for those who are truly close to their parents, they’re definitely worth taking a few minutes to soak in.

The Groom Couldn’t Hold Back His Tears

Once everyone had gathered for the ceremony, the groom waited with his back turned to the sea until Laila and her father had made the long walk across the property to the ceremony location at the cliff’s edge. When he turned around, he bowed his head and smiled so deeply it spread across his entire face. When he lifted his head, a few tears rolled down his cheeks.

His reaction was so genuine, and those moments are always some of my favorite images from a wedding day. After all the planning, all the anticipation, and all the years that led them here, seeing each other at the end of the aisle made everything feel real.

They tied the knot with rings, a first kiss, and circles of hugs from all of their favorite people—a simple and beautiful ceremony that felt perfect for them.

A Celebration That Felt Like Family

One thing that stood out throughout the entire wedding was how close both families already were.

After Laila and Daniel cut the first slice of cake, both moms stepped in to help finish serving dessert. Instead of it feeling like another wedding tradition, it turned into one of the funniest parts of the evening. They laughed together the whole time as they sliced the cake like a ham. It was obvious that this wasn’t just two families meeting—it was one big family celebrating together.

Dancing Under the Olympic Peninsula Sky

As the evening settled in, everyone gathered outside on the lawn for Laila and Daniel’s first dance.

With family and friends surrounding them, they spun and laughed together while the people they loved most watched from the back deck. It felt relaxed, joyful, and perfectly fitting for the atmosphere Sea Cliffs B&B creates.

It wasn’t about putting on a performance.

It was simply about being present with each other.
