On a gloomy day in November, Delaney and Evan eloped at Gas Works Park. Almost two years into their marriage, they still wanted to have a big celebration with their loved ones. So, they threw a beautiful summer wedding at Seattle Yacht Club—and it was such a fun contrast to their rainy elopement.

A Wedding Nearly Two Years in the Making
I loved that Delaney and Evan didn’t feel like they had to choose between an intimate elopement and a big wedding celebration. They already had their marriage; this day was about celebrating it with the people they love.
There was also a really sweet family connection to the venue. Delaney’s parents were married at Seattle Yacht Club, and they have a photo of themselves standing underneath the Yacht Club sign on their wedding day. Naturally, we recreated it with Delaney and Evan.
Evan is a JAG in the Navy and wore a striking white uniform that practically glowed in the sunshine. Delaney wore an elegant summer wedding dress with a veil handmade by her aunt, who was there to celebrate with them.
They were married for a second time by Bill, their sweet pastor and a longtime family friend of Evan’s father. Bill also gave them a beautiful nautical navigation keepsake during the ceremony, which was the only thing that made Delaney cry all day long.
Seattle Yacht Club Wedding Photos
Seattle Yacht Club was such a great setting for their celebration. The waterfront location on Portage Bay gives you beautiful views and plenty of variety for photos, with the lawn, marina, docks, and indoor spaces all close together.
For Seattle wedding photography, that’s pretty much the dream. You can get classic waterfront portraits, candid photos around the reception, and gorgeous sunset photos without spending half the wedding day driving around Seattle.
And the light at golden hour was truly unbeatable.
We took photos around the lawn and down on the docks while the sun dropped over the water. After a gloomy November elopement, getting this perfectly sunny Seattle summer evening felt pretty perfect.
Every Guest, Every Table
Delaney and Evan really wanted to make sure they spent time with everyone who came to celebrate them. We made a point of getting a photo with every guest at every table, then spent the rest of the day documenting the candid moments as they happened.
That’s one of my favorite parts of wedding photography. The posed photos are important, but so are the hugs, conversations, ridiculous dance moves, and tiny moments that you’ll probably forget happened unless someone was there photographing them.
“You’re Still the One”
Then came their first dance to “You’re Still the One.”
Given their unique love story and the years they’ve spent apart, the song was especially personal to them. And apparently it was personal to everyone else in the room, too, because there were tears everywhere.
Including me.
It was one of those moments where I didn’t need to do much other than step back and let them have it. The emotion was already there.

Seattle Yacht Club is such a beautiful option for couples who want a waterfront Seattle wedding without sacrificing the convenience of having everything in one place. The club has waterfront views, a marina, outdoor lawn space, and indoor reception areas, so you can move throughout the day without losing that classic Seattle setting.
And when the sun comes out? The docks and lawn make for some pretty incredible golden hour portraits.
For Delaney and Evan, it was the perfect backdrop for a day that was really all about celebrating the people who have been part of their story.
